Calendar of Events
Monthly Events
Alas, BFBC no longer has the volunteer resources to keep this events page fully up to date. The following events happen most months.
City Bicycle Subcommittee. Usually the first Wednesday each month. But schedule can vary, so confirm in advance. See the general info posted below. The specific agenda should be posted here when it is known.
Berkeley Critical Mass. Berkeley's monthly gathering of bike enthusiasts, rebel rousers, and cycling ambassadors starts at 6 pm at Constitution Plaza above the Downtown Berkeley BART Station. Takes place the second Friday every month. Bring bike lights during the months October to March.
East Bay Bicycle Coalition monthly meeting. See the EBBC events page for meeting details. Takes place the third Tuesday every month except December.
Recurring BFBC Events
Volunteer Nights. Several times a year, volunteers meet at BFBC's BCAT office to help out. Socializing and (usually) pizza come with the territory. All are welcome. For information on the next volunteer night, contact BFBC at bfbc (at) lmi (dot) net or 510-549-7433.
Board Meetings. The BFBC Board of Directors meets periodically, usually at the home of an individual board member. Meetings are open to active members and other interested parties. If you are interested, contact the board at board (at) bfbc2 (dot) org.

City of Berkeley Meetings
Bicycle Subcommittee. The Bicycle Subcommittee of the Transportation Commission serves as the city's bicycle advisory committee -- it initiates (most) bicycle policy and oversees implementation of the bicycle plan. It typically meets the first Wednesday of each month, 4:00-6:00pm. However, its schedule varies occasionally, so confirm in advance on the city's TC web page. Meeting location: 1947 Center Street (across the street from City Hall), 3rd Floor Conference Room. To find that room: take elevator to 3rd floor, walk 10 feet south (toward City Hall), turn right (west), walk all the way to the end, turn left into the room. City staff contact: Heath Maddox, Bicycle and Pedestrian Programs, Office of Transportation, phone (510)981-7062, fax (510)981-7060, e-mail: hmaddox (at) ci.berkeley (dot) ca.us. Recent Bicycle Subcommittee meeting minutes are posted here on the BFBC web site.
Traffic Calming Subcommittee. The Traffic Calming Subcommittee of the Transportation Commission is developing a new Traffic Calming Program for the City -- a program that will prioritize traffic calming based on selected criteria uniformly applied to the entire city, rather than traffic calming for the neighborhood that shouts the loudest. It typically meets the fourth Thursday of each month, 4:00-6:00pm. City staff contact: Peter Hillier or Tamlyn Bright, Office of Transportation, phone (510)981-7000, e-mail: phillier (at) ci.berkeley (dot) ca.us.
Transportation Commission. The Transportation Commission advises the City Council on transportation matters and oversees the work of the Bicycle Subcommittee. It typically meets the third Thursday each month (except August) at 7:00pm in the North Berkeley Senior Center, corner of Hearst and MLK Way. However, its schedule also varies occasionally, so confirm in advance on the city's TC web page.
City Council. The Berkeley City Council is the ultimate decision-making body for city policy. It meets (typically) on alternate Tuesday evenings, 7:00pm, in City Council Chambers (old city hall, 2134 MLK Way). For information and agendas see the City Council web site.
When the Transportation Commission or City Council agenda contains an item of particular interest to bicyclists, we will post the fact.
